Theatre Academy Offers Winter and Spring Sessions for Students in Grades 1 to 12

Hershey Area Playhouse is pleased to offer information on upcoming winter sessions for students in grades 1 to 12. The winter program will run from January 14 to March 4.

Grades 1-3 — Fairy Tales! Mixed Up Fairy Tales! And Made Up Fairy Tales!

January 14 to March 4

Saturdays, 9 to 10:30 am

Cost: $140.00

In this fast-paced and encouraging atmosphere, new and veteran students will enjoy learning about, and acting out, familiar fairy tales. Children will bring characters to life in all kinds of creative and interactive ways. They will also learn about settings and overall storytelling. Teachers always focus on the actors’ tools and will introduce fun games and exercises to help support these fundamentals.

Grades 4-6 — Create a Scene!

January 14 to March 4

Saturdays, 10:30 am to noon

Cost: $140.00

Don’t hold them back— let them create a scene! Middle grade students will dive right into scene work with partners. This 8-week session will make a slow progression from simple scenes to complex scenes to “write your own” scenes involving conflicts and problem-solving. Students, with or without acting experience, are invited to learn and apply the actors’ tools in several ways. They will enjoy games, exercises and improv to help develop understanding and confidence. They will also learn to interpret the written word on the page, develop characters and perform with authenticity. Actors will finish the session with a new understanding of acting and having had a fun experience.

Grades 7-12 — Create a Scene!

January 14 to March 4

Saturdays, 1 to 3 pm

Cost: $180.00
