"Company" is a small musical set in New York City in 1970. Robert is a single guy celebrating his 35th birthday and contemplating his relationships. He interacts with his married friends and dates single women to determine what he wants for his future. Through a series of vignettes, writer George Furth carries the audience from one end of the emotional spectrum to the other, all swirling with Stephen Sondheim’s powerful and poetic songs. Nominated for 14 Tony Awards, "Company" is a genius piece of work, one the Playhouse is excited and proud to produce.

Coming in January!

Come enjoy an evening of song with soprano Sarah Zahn (Hershey Area Playhouse, Servant Stage Co, Sight & Sound) and renowned pianist Andy Roberts (Timbers Dinner Theater, American Music Theater). Act one features "December Songs", a 35 minute song cycle by award-winning composer Maury Yeston ("Nine," "Phantom," "Titanic"), that follows a woman who has experienced the loss of love. Written as a complement to Schubert's "Winter Journey", the ten songs take the audience through a year of her life in New York City as she fluctuates between happiness and chosen isolation, ending ultimately with hope. The second half of the evening will feature surprise appearances by some of Sarah's favorite fellow singers as they serenade the audience with new and old musical theater favorites.

Hershey Area Playhouse is a true Community Theater.  Our directors, producers, actors, and people behind the scenes are local residents.

We are always seeking ways to provide high quality entertainment for a very affordable price.  However our ticket prices do not cover all of our operating expenses and we depend on additional support from our friends and neighbors who understand the value of having a local community theater and the opportunities it brings.
