FOUNDATION COURSES

Acting Techniques

Build your foundation as a performer through the study of core acting methods used by professionals around the world. Students explore character development, motivation, and truthful connection on stage through exercises, ensemble work, and scene study. By the end of this course, participants will have the tools to bring authenticity and confidence to every performance.

Movement for Actors

Discover how physicality shapes storytelling. This course helps students gain body awareness, balance, and expressive control through movement exercises, stage combat basics, and creative choreography. Participants learn to use their physical presence to enhance character, emotion, and connection with the audience.

Monologue Mastery

From Shakespearean soliloquies to contemporary pieces, students dive into the art of the solo performance. This course focuses on selecting, analyzing, and performing monologues that highlight individuality and versatility. Students will refine audition techniques, strengthen emotional range, and leave ready to captivate any audience—alone on stage.

Voice and Speech for the Stage

A strong, expressive voice is an actor’s most powerful instrument. This class trains students in breath support, articulation, projection, and vocal variety. Through practical warm-ups and scene work, participants learn to speak clearly, safely, and dynamically—ensuring every word resonates from rehearsal to performance.

Improvisation

Unleash creativity, quick thinking, and collaboration through spontaneous performance. Students engage in theatre games, character exercises, and short-form improvisations that strengthen listening, adaptability, and stage confidence. Expect laughter, teamwork, and bold creative choices in every session!

Theatre Methods

Go beyond performance and explore the essential tools that make theatre come to life. This course introduces students to stage terminology, rehearsal etiquette, script analysis, and directing basics. Participants gain a deeper understanding of how actors, designers, and directors collaborate to create powerful productions.

Scene Study

Dive deeper into the craft of acting by analyzing and performing scenes from a range of plays and musicals. Students will learn how to interpret text, develop relationships between characters, and make strong acting choices. This immersive course brings all foundational skills together in dynamic, on-your-feet work.

Behind the Scenes

Not all magic happens under the spotlight. This hands-on course introduces students to the creative and technical aspects of production—set design, lighting, costumes, props, and stage management. Participants will explore what it takes to make a show run smoothly and may even take on real backstage roles during performances.

Stage Combat

Learn to fight—safely! This exciting class teaches students the fundamentals of stage combat, including unarmed techniques, swordplay, and choreographed action sequences. With a strong focus on safety, precision, and storytelling, participants discover how to make stage fights look thrilling and real while keeping every performer protected.

Makeup and Costume Design

Transform character from the outside in. This creative course explores the visual elements that bring roles to life, from basic stage makeup and aging effects to color palettes and costume coordination. Students will design and apply their own looks while learning how wardrobe and makeup choices enhance mood, personality, and storytelling.

Song Interpretation

Bring music to life through story and emotion. In this course, students explore the art of interpreting songs from musical theatre and beyond. Through vocal coaching, lyric analysis, and performance workshops, participants learn to combine acting and singing to create powerful, character-driven performances that resonate with audiences.

Script Analysis

Every great performance starts with understanding the text. This course teaches students how to break down scripts, identify themes, uncover objectives, and explore character motivations. By studying a range of dramatic works, participants gain critical reading and interpretive skills that elevate both acting and directing.

Theatre History

Travel through time to discover how theatre has evolved across cultures and centuries—from Greek amphitheaters to Broadway stages. Students explore iconic playwrights, styles, and movements that have shaped the art form, gaining a deeper appreciation for how history continues to influence modern performance.

Stage Management

The heartbeat of any production lies behind the curtain. This hands-on course introduces students to the organizational side of theatre, covering scheduling, cue calling, prop tracking, and communication techniques. Participants learn to manage rehearsals and performances with professionalism, efficiency, and calm under pressure.

Dance Styles

Express yourself through movement and rhythm! This energetic course explores multiple styles of theatrical dance—jazz, tap, contemporary, and musical theatre choreography. Students learn key techniques, terminology, and combinations designed to strengthen coordination, confidence, and stage presence.

The Basics of The Bard

Step into the world of Shakespeare! Students will demystify Elizabethan language, discover timeless characters, and learn to perform classical text with clarity and passion. This approachable course helps students connect ancient verse to modern emotions—proving that Shakespeare’s work is as alive today as ever.

Directing

Take the reins and bring your vision to life. In this course, students explore the artistic and leadership responsibilities of the director—from interpreting scripts and casting to blocking scenes and guiding actors. Participants will direct short pieces, gaining insight into communication, creativity, and collaboration.

Script Writing

Become the storyteller behind the scenes. Students learn the fundamentals of playwriting, including structure, dialogue, and character development. Through writing exercises and workshops, participants craft original short plays and scenes, discovering their unique voice as emerging playwrights.
