HERSHEY AREA PLAYHOUSE ANNOUNCES
AUDITIONS FOR LITTLE WOMEN
Hershey, Pa. – Hershey Area Playhouse announces auditions for the March 2004
production of “Little Women: Meg, Beth, Jo & Amy.” The auditions will be held
on Sunday, January 4, from 6-8 pm and on Monday, January 5, from 6-9 pm, at
Hershey's Chocolate World Visitor’s Center “3D” Theater. All candidates
should be prepared to read from a script provided and to list any anticipated
conflicts in rehearsals. Rehearsals begin the week of January 11 and average
three to four per week until the production dates. The production is slated for
March 11-13 and March 18-21 at the Rose Room at Country Meadows of Hershey.
The HAP production, directed by Pam Waters, follows a script based on
the first volume of the classic book Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. The
first volume, Little Women: Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy, portrays a year in the
sisters’ lives, when Father was away in the war, money was scarce, and good
friends from next-door entered their world. Cast is sought for 12 female ( 4
adults, 8 teens from 12-16) and 7 males (3 adults, 1 preteen and 3
teens ) portraying the March family, young friends and support staff as well as
the extended family roles of the grandfather and elderly aunt in the timeless
tale.
The Hershey Area Playhouse, founded in 1999, has staged its 14
productions throughout the community, from local schools to the “ Fair Tent”
stage at Hersheypark . The company is currently conducting a $1 million capital
campaign, “Setting the Stage for Community Theater” for its permanent home in a
barn on the Country Meadows of Hershey campus. Hershey Area Playhouse is a
501(c)(3), non - profit organization dedicated to provide residents of the
community with an opportunity to participate in the creation and production of a
theatrical experience.
