This classic thriller is about Susy, a blind woman, who is stalked by criminals after her husband accepts a doll from a stranger. Unbeknownst to Susy or her absent husband, the doll is stuffed with heroin, and the thugs will stop at nothing to get the doll back. Wait Until Dark holds audiences in its grip till the final hair-raising moments when Susy turns her greatest weakness, her blindness, into her greatest strength in outwitting the ruthless thugs.

  Meet the cast

Jason Ader (Mike Talman)

Jason is glad to be back on the stage at Hershey Area Playhouse. Wait Until Dark is Jason's second show at Hershey Area Playhouse. After playing Sergeant Trotter last year in Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap, he is eager to perform once again for his hometown. Throughout high school he was heavily involved in both drama and choir, and in college he acted in various student films, such as Watcher in the Dark. In addition to his love for acting, Jason has a passion for music and has performed in various bands playing guitar and singing. He enjoys putting on a show and entertaining an audience.

Ian Bonner (Patrolman Two)

This is Ian’s acting debut at Hershey Area Playhouse, although he has helped out before as house manager, usher and backstage gopher. Ian shares his time between the stage and the big screen and can be seen at a theatre near you playing opposite Jamie Foxx in Law Abiding Citizen as the police officer dusting for prints.

Ed Cohn (Harry Roat, Jr./Harry Roat, Sr.)

Ed is a Professor of Theatre at Messiah College where he also serves as Artistic Director. He holds a Ph.D. in Theatre from Bowling Green State University and a Masters from New York University. Ed teaches in the areas of Acting, Directing and Dramatic Literature, and also directs the Musical Theatre productions each year. Recent productions directed by Ed have been The Spitfire Grill, Godspell, Urinetown The Musical, Into the Woods and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Ed was recently seen in the Theatre Harrisburg production of Social Security, and some of Ed’s favorite roles to have played are Dickinson in 1776 and Barrymore in I Hate Hamlet.

Eric Friedman (Sgt. Carlino)

Eric will be gracing the stage of Hershey Area Playhouse for the first time. This is Eric's first complete show since he last appeared in Death of a Salesman with the Wilmington, DE Theater group 10 years ago. However, Eric was last seen on stage in the 2006 Lebanon Community Theater One Act Plays. Incidentally, Eric has also appeared in the following productions: M.A.S.H., Hans Brinker and the Silver Skates, Agatha Christie's Ten Little Indians, and Neil Simon's Brighton Beach Memoirs performed at the Harrisburg Community Theater. Unlike his character Carlino, Eric has absolutely no attachment issues with correctional facilities. He is employed as a Case Manager/ Counselor facilitating treatment services to court adjudicated juvenile sex offenders and adolescents with profound mental health issues. Wait Until Dark has been a great experience for Eric. Therefore, he is thankful for the love and support of his friends and family and being afforded the opportunity to work with such a gifted cast and crew.

Maria Goldman (Gloria)

Maria is a 4th grader at Hershey Elementary School. Wait Until Dark is Maria's third performance at Hershey Area Playhouse. This is her first major role portraying "Gloria." She debuted in The Homecoming in 2007 as a townsperson and in The King and I in 2009 as a royal child. Maria loves the theatre and has attended acting workshops at Hershey Area Playhouse for five years. Maria also dances at Hershey School of Dance, plays the piano and is excited to start cello! Maria would like to thank Diane for giving her this great opportunity and the entire cast for their support. Hope you enjoy the show!

Michael S. Lazorcik (Patrolman One)

Michael's theatre experience includes shows with Lebanon Community Theater (Anthony J. Lefcourt in The Butler Did It), PA Historic Dramas (Frank Stichler in The Blue Eyed Six), Ephrata ACT (Joe B. in God's Favorite) and Theatre Harrisburg (Dr. Cedric Seward in The Passion of Dracula). Michael was previously a member of the Board of Directors for Hershey Area Playhouse and played Billy Boylan in Forty Carats during their second season. His other work includes several major films (National Treasure 2, Shooter), independent films (Rough Cut, Tuxedo Joe, The Blue-Eyed Six), student films, commercials and TV shows, including an episode of Forensic Files earlier this year. He would like to thank his wife, Jody, also a thespian, and daughter Jill for their love and support.

Curt Sisco (Sam Hendrix)

Curt spent the latter half of the ‘80s alternately goofing off and deciding to pursue a life in entertainment. He spent most of the ‘90s acting, directing and writing at Children's Theater Association in Baltimore, getting married, and having children. He spent all of the ‘00s here in Hershey managing Hershey Trolley Works, and continuing to have children. In the next decade he hopes to force his family to vacation in Iceland at least once, and to have a pet chameleon named Hayek, after the great Austrian economist.

Lauren Turchin (Susy Hendrix)

Throughout Lauren’s high school career, she played feature roles such as 'Diana Barry' in Anne of Green Gables, 'Helen Keller' in The Miracle Worker, 'Anne Gilbreth' inCheaper by the Dozen, and 'Molly Rolston' in Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap. While a student at Liberty University, where she received her BA in English and Teacher Licensure, Lauren performed in The Man Who Came to Dinnerand Pygmalion. Her local theatre performances include Theatre Harrisburg's production of State of the Union, both productions of Hershey Area Playhouse's The Other Woman, and most recently she starred as 'Eve' in Oyster Mill's production of The Wisdom of Eve. Lauren is currently working at Susquehanna Township High School where she teaches 9th grade English and Creative Writing.
